Corporate Sponsor Benefits

As an organization dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of microscopy in the sciences, the New England Society for Microscopy is always proud and eager to welcome vendors, businesses and manufacturers into the organization’s community. The goal of NESM is to educate and inform their members about new techniques and applications in micro-analysis. The goal of the annual meetings held by NESM is to provide scientists, technicians and professionals involved in microanalysis with a common meeting ground where they can network, discuss topical issues, and learn about their peers’ research. Typically, meetings provide a platform where researchers can present their new findings, as well as share valuable education about the methodologies and instrumentation they use in their research. Below you will read about the critical role of Corporate Sponsors in the NESM community, benefits of becoming a Corporate Sponsor, and additional ways to support the society.

Importance of Corporate Sponsors

Given NESM’s focus on increasing the knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of microscopic analysis techniques among its members, maintaining a vibrant and healthy relationship with the vendors that make that research possible is crucial. The dialogue between our organization and the vendors that service our community is, and should be, bi-directional and symbiotic. Researchers and analytic professionals drive the need for new techniques and equipment, which can inform and provide opportunities to increase vendors’ understanding of the market’s needs. Similarly, new advances in equipment and materials from vendors can directly lead to advances in research, where new insights can be obtained through the innovations vendors offer. In both cases, NESM hopes to provide a forum where this sort of information can be shared and archived, creating not only a schedule of informative meetings, but also a lasting community.

Becoming Part of the NESM Community

NESM offers a number of opportunities for vendors to become part of the microscopy community. Most simply, we are always welcoming new members on an individual basis, who enjoy access to our website, discounts and meetings, and notifications of events and presentations that might be of interest to them. Individuals from industry, both vendors that specifically serve the microanalysis community and from entities that perform services in that arena, are always able to find value and insight at our meetings and events.

For companies that wish to become a more integral part of the NESM community, we offer a Corporate Sponsor membership. This yearly membership is quite affordable, and allows for a company of any size to designate two Regular memberships to any of their employees or representatives. This allows the company to send two individuals to meetings or events, as well as hold office, vote on society business, and help drive the direction our society takes moving forward. For larger companies, or those with wider interests, these membership seats can be transferred, allowing several people at the company access. Committing to this sponsorship also places your company on NESM’s sponsor list, which appears on the website, program notes, and handouts at all of our meetings. This provides increased visibility and encourages our membership to learn about your company’s offerings.

Other Ways to Contribute

In addition to supporting the NESM organization financially through a yearly membership, there are other opportunities for vendors and companies to become involved. Currently, the Spring Symposium at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole is a multi-day meeting that includes a vendor exhibit area where representatives from corporate sponsor companies that wish to rent table space can have representatives directly interact with society members at the meeting using displays and literature. In addition to this meeting, other meetings throughout the year can benefit from donations from our corporate sponsors, which help offset costs for coffee breaks, meals, or other benefits from members. Such gracious sponsors are noted by the President at these meetings, as well as being thanked in the programs and flyers for the meetings.

Host a Meeting or Suggest a Speaker/Workshop

NESM is always looking for new speakers, hosts, and workshop facilitators to provide content and venues for future meetings. While we typically have the venues scheduled well ahead of time, if you have a suggestion for a meeting place or an interesting presentation you think would benefit the membership, we’re always interested in hearing about any ideas you might have to offer. Suggestions can made using our Contact Form.

Thank You for Considering a Corporate Sponsorship

NESM is proud to continue our nearly 50 year tradition of fostering education and outreach among members of the microscopy community. All of us in the society realize that the amazing advances in the basic science of microscopy would not be possible without vendors pushing the envelope, developing new instruments, techniques, and tools. We are always interested in hearing about new developments from all of our members, but understand the extent to which new advances from the companies that provide these analytic tools can create a massive impact in upcoming research and testing. Our hope is to provide the environment by which our sponsors and members can meet, discuss, and truly grow together. We encourage you to email us with any questions, requests, or suggestions using our Contact Form.
